So the battery light came on in the Focus on the way into work, so SWMBO and Father-In-Law trekked out to Overland Park to swap the battery out as the first step. The light came on almost immediately, which on further review at his house, indicates that there is something wrong with the alternator.
After 4 hours of messing with it, we still don't have the alternator out, but the pulley/bracket assembly is. I'm pessimistic because I saw what it took to get the pieces out, and I'm not sure the Focus will survive them being put back in :-(
